Nick Frost, JB Smoove, Joy Behar, Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Kunal Nayyar & Alain Chabat Also Join The Cast
Here’s the deal with Nicki Minaj. We don’t get it. Her whole cartoony/sexpot image combined with tepid musical output makes us wonder why she’s as popular as is. The other side of the coin is that she absolutely kills it on Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy with her memorable intro on “Dark Fantasy” and arguably one of the best verses on the whole album in “Monster” (next to Pusha T‘s turn on “Runaway). Regardless, Minaj voicing a character in an animated film? Yeah, it sort of makes sense even if her delivery may give your children nightmares.
The last bits and pieces of the voice cast for “Ice Age: Continental Drift” are being put into place as Minaj, Nick Frost, JB Smoove, Joy Behar, Heather Morris, Josh Gad, Alan Tudyk, Kunal Nayyar and Alain Chabat have all boarded the the film. While this franchise generally leaves us cold (ha!) we have to admit, the talent coming together here is pretty impressive. Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, Jeremy Renner, John Leguizamo, Sean William Scott, Aziz Ansari, Wanda Sykes, Keke Palmer, Jennifer Lopez, Drake and Josh Peck have already been set and with the additions of the above everyone will have about one line of dialogue or the movie is going to be seven hours long.
Steve Martino and Mike Thurmeier are co-directing the film; the duo previously teamed on the short “Scrat’s Continental Crack-Up” and had gigs on “Horton Hears A Who” and “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” respectively. The film will hit theaters on July 13, 2012 and have the longest credit scroll ever.
