Nicolas Cage, Juno Temple & Johnny Knoxville Take A Walk On The 'Wild Side'

Juno Temple Man, it's been way too long since word of a new Nic Cage movie. But rest assured, he's bringing his trunk full of crazy wigs to a brand new film, and it sounds as improbable as everything else he's done recently.

Cage will team with indie starlet Juno Temple and "Jackass" jackass Johnny Knoxville for the indie road trip drama (for reals) "Wild Side." Co-written by Jesse Baget and Stefania Moscato, with the former directing as well, Deadline runs down the story thusly: "A small town southern beauty queen (Temple, probably) who is on the run from a ruthless killer determined to retrieve diamonds he stole during a murderous heist. Lila Belle Clyde, who walks away with the loot, is a former beauty queen who wants to get away from New Orleans. To do that, she needs to elude authorities, a dogged news reporter, and Odel, a self described wolf determined to hunt her down and recover his swag."

Man we really hope Cage is the killer Odel, if only because watching him trying to dial down is far less interesting than just letting him be wild. The project already has financing and will roll in front of cameras in July in Louisiana, where it will undoubtedly make use of the many tax breaks. Distribution is already lined up with Lionsgate, and it sounds like a routine, low-rent, not-worth-bothering-unless-it-shows-up-on-cable genre flick. Cage and Knoxville have to eat we suppose, but Temple could probably be doing something better with her time.
