The U.S. Box office was a disgrace yet again this weekend. In fact it was the slowest movie weekend in seven years, according to studio estimates from the AP. “Bangkok Dangerous” won the top spot with a mere $7.8 million. The Pang Brother’s movie beat out no new competition making it number one and beat the three time weekend winner, “Tropic Tunder” by a hair from Nicolas Cage’s head. Were starting to think that Cage himself doesn’t star in these things, but his tacky haircuts. The war comedy, in it’s fourth week of release, made $7.5 million. Interestingly enough, “The House Bunny” traded positions with “The Dark Knight” moving from number four to three and three to four respectively. The best performer from last week’s new crop of crap, “Babylon A.D.” was beat by the surprisingly mediocre success story, “Traitor,” which has kept its number five spot for two weeks in a row. ‘Babylon’ has yet to open in foreign markets, and has only made around $17 million of it’s $70 million budget back.
Nicolas Cage’s Hair Tops Worst American Box Office In Seven Years
Things are looking up for next weekend, Box Office wise, with something for everyone. For the women, “The Women,” for the anti-stereotypical black people and Kathy Bates fans, Tyler Perry’s “The Family that Preys,” for the stereotypical black folk and other “Scarface” fans, “Righteous Kill,” for film fans who have just recently discovered The Coen Brothers, “Burn After Reading,” and for those that enjoy molestation, “Towelhead.”
