Nicolas Winding Refn has yet to deliver a full blown horror movie, but the upcoming "The Neon Demon" will likely fit that bill. However, across his filmography, Refn has made clear his love for genre material of all shapes and sizes, practically becoming a genre unto himself. And while we wait for the director to deliver his next pic, he stopped by MovieMaker and ranked his top ten favorite horror films of all time.

You’ll have to go over there to get the all the goods, but he does offer some great comments on some seminal pictures. About Stanley Kubrick‘s "The Shining," he declares it to be "like watching a painting of pure terror. It has no purpose, sexuality or function other than to completely terrorize you."
"The ultimate example of how a B-movie concept in the hands of a great Hollywood director equals a blockbuster masterpiece," is how he describes Ridley Scott‘s "Alien."
And as for "Suspiria," Dario Argento‘s giallo masterpiece? "The ultimate cocaine movie."
