Harvey Weinstein has three big Oscar heavyweights debuting across the next few months, all of which he has high hopes for. We've now seen Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," which hits theaters from next week, and it certainly seems to have the right stuff. Quentin Tarantino's "Django Unchained" only wrapped about a month ago, and as such, we'd be very surprised if the film was ready to be seen all that much earlier than its December 25th release date. And in between is David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook," an offbeat romantic-comedy-drama that stars Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver and Chris Tucker.
Cooper plays Pat, a history teacher just out of an eight-month spell in a mental institution, who befriends a local widow (Lawrence) after being released into the care of his parents (De Niro and Weaver). A trailer arrived a little while back, and now Fandango have received the exclusive poster for the film, which, while not reinventing the wheel, is a pretty decent piece of artwork, with the titular playbook made literal in the center of the poster, giving a little more depth than most one-sheets. Whether the film has the goods is still up in the air (we've heard comparisons to "I Heart Huckabees" and "Flirting With Disaster," which is good news to our ears), but we should know very soon: the film will premiere at TIFF over the weekend, and we'll have a review for you in the next few days.
