Stop me if you’ve already heard this one before, but the release of yet another blockbuster may get released. “No Time To Die” was one of the first major releases to get pushed due to the still ongoing pandemic, but a new report suggests that MGM and Universal are considering delaying the James Bond film yet again to the Summer of 2021.
According to a report from Bond informers at MI6 HQ, a Summer 2021 release window for “No Time To Die” is “under active consideration” by both MGM and Universal, and the final decision will come pretty soon, given that the start of the film’s 90-day marketing campaign would begin imminently. The report also states that neither MGM, Universal or EON Productions are considering releasing the film on VOD instead of theaters.
Of course, that was a part of the reason why the movie was delayed in the first place, and it was widely reported that MGM was bound to lose up to $50 million because of the release date delay. So it’s easy to assume they’d probably want to make a decision before spending even more money on promoting a release date that was going to be pushed either way.
As all the major studios continue to shuffle and reshuffle their release slates, it seems less and less likely that any major blockbuster will get released in 2020, with The Hollywood Reporter sharing that a Disney market analyst is predicting movie theaters to stay closed for the rest of the year.
