We pretty much adore Noah Baumbach’s work, so it’s nice to hear that someone is letting him make another film. Especially after the poor and mixed reception to his last film, “Margot At The Wedding” – a fantastically funny and sometimes brutal look at dysfunctional families that we loved, but not even the critics – the only people who seem to “get” his movies – seemingly aimed for seemed to enjoy it much (it only received a 51% rating at Rotten Tomatoes).
The Hollywood Reporter just announced that writer-director’s next film, “Greenberg” will star Mark Ruffalo and charming Amy Adams for producer Scott Rudin. Details on the plot are being kept close to the vest, but the story is supposed to be a relationship comedy-drama (Gee, surprise, surprise, let us guess, the characters are highly educated, highly cultured East Coasters, right?). There’s no schedule so far, but Rudin apparently wants to start shooting the film next year.
There’s a lot of talk that the Hollywood Reporter doesn’t source or attribute other publications because they don’t trust the reliabilty of blog reportage. Well, let’s one-up them with our reporting right now and they can re-report it later: the script was co-written by Baumbach and his wife Jennifer Jason-Leigh. Small scoop, but hey, it’s something. In your face, HR.
