The adrenaline-pumping Netflix original film “Close” puts the stress of the bodyguard world center stage. Helmed by writer/director Vicky Jewson (“Lady Godiva,” “Born of War“) and starring Noomi Rapace the film is inspired by real-life events involving the world leading female bodyguard Jackie Davis.

Sam Carlson (Noomi Rapace) is a counterterrorism expert at the top of her field. She has a professional and controlled Venere which suppresses the truth there is a clear distinction between her personal and professional life. This makes her the perfect close protection officer for Zoe (Sophie Nélisse), a bratty young heiress who can’t keep herself out of trouble. What starts off as a babysitting job of sorts, turns into a violent attempted kidnapping that forces the two to go on the run. What ensues is an action thriller with twists and turns the audience doesn’t see coming, and proof that Rapace is one of the best action stars of this generation.
Noomi Rapace’s ‘Close’ On The Netflix [Review]
There aren’t enough women leading action cinema. There are even fewer women writing and directing action films. Vicky Jewson aims to change that with “Close” and several other projects she has in the works. Jewson is very optimistic about the changes coming for women in film, she states “I think we’re at a very exciting wave were women in cinema are more commercially successful, and there is an appetite for it, which is pretty exciting.”
