Noomi Rapace & Colin Farrell Thriller 'Dead Man Down' To Hit Theaters On April 5, 2013

nullWell, this will be an interesting little experiment. While both have been part of hit films, neither Noomi Rapace or Colin Farrell are necessarily marquee names. Sure, Rapace was part of the successful Swedish version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and is currently starring in "Prometheus," but that movie is sold on concept, not her name. As for Farrell, he's always been a wildcard, hard to predict, and he was likely more known last summer for his brief supporting role in "Horrible Bosses" than as the wicked villain of "Fright Night."

But FilmDistrict is hoping both names can generate some heat, as they have pegged a spring April 5, 2013 date for the film. Helmed by 'Dragon Tattoo' director Niels Arden Oplev, the thriller follows Victor (Farrell), who sabotages the business and picks off the men belonging to underground crime lord Alphonse Hoyt (Terrence Howard) in New York City as vengeance for the death of a family member. The cast is rounded out strong by Dominic Cooper and Isabelle Huppert.

The ingredients are all here for a smart little genre flick (and we're intrigued as hell to see what Huppert brings to the game), so we'll see how this works out. But the film will face some fierce competition, opening against the untitled Sandra Bullock/Melissa McCarthy comedy from Fox. [THR]
