'Nova': Marvel Developing Project With 'Moon Knight' Writer Sabir Pirzada

Marvel Studios is the dominating force in the superhero genre and they continue to deliver various characters, balancing both the popular and the obscure. We’ll be seeing “Moon Knight,” “Ms. Marvel,” “She-Hulk,” and Werewolf By Night in the near future, and now another hero that fans have been campaigning for is finally coming to the MCU.

Deadline reports that “Moon Knight” writer Sabir Pirzada has been tasked to write a “Nova” project, as the outlet isn’t sure if it will be a series for Disney+ or feature film, but their source believes it’s “likely” to be a limited series.

This news is another sign that Marvel is extremely happy with the creative team involved with “Moon Knight” after directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead were hired for “Loki” season two.

There have been different incarnations of Nova including the traditional character Richard Rider and the younger character, Sam Alexander. The character debuted in 1966 and is a human that joins the intergalactic police force, however, it’s unclear how Marvel plans to adapt the Nova or if they plan to alter elements to avoid comparisons to Brie Larson‘s “Captain Marvel.”

“Nova” is essentially Marvel’s version of “Green Lantern” and the Nova Corps. were previously introduced by director James Gunn in “Guardians of The Galaxy” before being destroyed off-camera during the events of “Avengers: Infinity War” by Thanos. Actors John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and Peter Serafinowicz played standout characters from the Nova Corps. but likely are going to stay dead.

The introduction of Nova sees Marvel continue to flesh out the cosmic side of the MCU alongside “The Marvels,” the Skrull-focused Disney+ series “Secret Invasion,” “Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3,” and last year’s “Eternals.”
