Oasis Rise & Fall In First Trailer For Documentary 'Supersonic'

These days, Noel and Liam Gallagher make most of their headlines by (often entertainingly) slagging each other in the press or on social media, so it makes it easy to forget that at one time, their band Oasis, were the biggest thing around. You couldn’t cross a college campus without hearing one of their singles blaring from a dorm room window, and they stormed the charts around the world. And stories of dramatic rises, followed by a crushing fall and acrimonious split don’t get much juicier than theirs, and the tale gets told in the upcoming documentary “Supersonic.”

Directed by Mat Whitecross (“Spike Island,” “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll“) and executive produced by Asif Kapadia (“Amy“), the filmmaker received access to the band’s archive of material, and has crafted a look at the dizzying ride to fame Oasis embarked on, and what happened when it crashed down around them. As Noel Gallagher notes in the narration, Oasis’ greatest strength and weakness was him and his brother Liam, and it looks like the movie will explore the spark that made the magic happen and also lit the fuse that burned it all down.

“Supersonic” opens in the U.K. on October 2nd, but doesn’t have U.S. distribution at the moment.
