Well, let the speculation begin: Lucasfilm and Disney have finally revealed the official title for “Star Wars: Episode VIII.”
Rian Johnson‘s forthcoming chapter in the saga will be named, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” Well, what the heck does that mean? Surely, not the last Jedi, is it? Maybe Luke Skywalker is the last in his line of Jedi? Also, what’s the deal with the “Star Wars” logo outlined in red instead of yellow? Not canon! But seriously, I’m already missing the golden yellow of the standard title treatment. But hey, at least ‘The Last Jedi’ is a title that fits nicely in the middle ‘Star Wars’ design-wise. Here’s the official synopsis:
We have the greatest fans in this or any other galaxy. In appreciation of the fans, we wanted them to be the first to know the title of the next chapter in the Skywalker saga: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.
THE LAST JEDI is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.
STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.
