Olivia Wilde On Board Jim Field Smith's Political Satire 'Butter'

Rising star Olivia Wilde has reportedly joined the cast of Jim Field Smith’s butter-sculpting political satire, “Butter.”

The pic currently boasts the talented likes of Jennifer Garner, Ty Burrell, Yara Shahidi, Alicia Silverstone, Rob Corddry, Ashley Greene with Wilde now added to the ensemble as the stripper having an affair with Burrell’s character, a retiring butter-sculpting champion whose wife (Garner) is looking to take his mantle.

But wait, wasn’t Silverstone cast in the same role yesterday? She certainly was, however, things have now evidently changed as Movieline are reporting that the role is in fact Wilde’s with Silverstone instead playing the foster mother of the young African-American girl (Shahidi) who stands in Garner’s way. Interestingly, before the two thesps were involved, Kate Hudson was also linked to the role with Jim Carrey was being lined up for Burrell’s role.

If the story sounds oddly familiar by the way, it may be that the film is reportedly an analogy for the 2008 Democratic primaries. Garner and Burrell, of course, being Bill and Hillary Clinton and Shahidi being none other than Barack Obama. So, that makes Wilde’s stripping adulterer the Monica Lewinsky of the story?

Shooting begins next week in Louisiana with a likely early 2011 release through The Weinstein Company.
