As seen in the trailer, “Operation Varsity Blues” follows the story of Rick Singer, the person at the center of the college admissions scandal, and the way that he was able to convince his wealthy clients to spend a ton of money to fake documents and ensure their children would be accepted at top colleges and universities. As you probably know, the whole empire came down as the FBI investigated the crimes and recorded a ton of phone conversations between Singer and the people he was working with.
Though the film is a documentary, built from archival footage and interviews, there are extensive re-enactments that feature a cast led by none other than Matthew Modine, as the person at the center of all of this controversy, Rick Singer. “Operation Varsity Blues” is directed by Chris Smith, the man behind recent Netflix projects like “Fyre” and “The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann.”
“Operation Varsity Blues” debuts on Netflix on March 17. You can watch the trailer below.
