'Ordinary Love' Trailer: A Lifetime Of Commitment For Liam Neeson & Lesley Manville Faces A Grave Obstacle

For some, the connection is instantaneous, and it only grows stronger as two people spend more time with each other. Others may struggle through a litany of poor relationships before finally finding the one with whom they want to spend the rest of their life. The feelings in both cases are the same, however. Their significant other’s love motivates them to be the best possible person they can be, and they can feel comfortable being the person they are—just to name two. As timelessly cliché as it sounds, “you know when you know” definitely holds water in this respect. A bond as beautiful and sought after as this is explored and put to the test in Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn’s new film “Ordinary Love.”

The upcoming film is co-produced by Brian J. Falconer, Piers Tempest, and David Holmes who also provides its score. Northern Irish playwright Owen McCafferty serves as the project’s screenwriter. Oscar nominees Liam Neeson (“Schindler’s List”) and Lesley Manville (“Phantom Thread”) play Tom and Joan, respectively. Other members of the cast include David Wilmot (“The Tudors” & “Black Sails”) and Amit Shah (“The Hundred-Foot Journey”).

Here’s the synopsis:

Joan and Tom have been married for many years. There is an ease to their relationship which only comes from spending a lifetime together and a depth of love which expresses itself through tenderness and humor in equal part. When Joan is unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer, the course of her treatment shines a light on their relationship as they are faced with the challenges that lie ahead and the prospect of what might happen if something were to happen to Joan. ORDINARY LOVE is a story about love, survival and the epic questions life throws at each and every one of us.

“Ordinary Love”—distributed by Bleecker Street and Focus Features—premiered at TIFF earlier this month, and will be released in the U.K. on December 6, with a TBA U.S. release date. Check out the trailer below and, hopefully, love can truly conquer all.
