At one time linked to Jodie Foster to direct, with Ian McKellan and Natalie Portman in the starring roles, “Eliza Graves” has been a long gestating project in Hollywood that has attracted some top shelf talent but it looks like it’s finally moving forward with hot director of the moment.
Oren Peli (“Paranormal Activity“) has been tapped to direct the film which is based on an Edgar Allen Poe short story and tells the tale of “a Harvard Medical School graduate who takes a job at an insane asylum, unaware of the fact that it has been taken over by its occupants.” Sounds like a great premise but the project will have a script by Joe Gangemi who penned the forgotten Emily Blunt horror flick “Wind Chill.” So yeah, keeps those expectations checked.
Sobini Films and Icon Productions will be backing the film, but no word yet on when this spooky flick will get in front of cameras. As for Peli, he has a new film in the can, “Area 51,” which will hit theaters next year. [Variety]
