Original Leatherface Gunnar Hansen Will Appear In 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D'

So, how do you get fanboys on board you horror remake that is otherwise totally unnecessary and probably terrible? Dig up the star of the original and get him to pop in and say hello in your new film.

That’s the path being taken by the filmmakers behind “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D,” as Bloody Disgusting reports that the awesomely named Gunnar Hansen, who first wielded the tool in 1974 for Tobe Hooper, is set for a role — likely a cameo — in the Lionsgate reboot. No, he will not be carving up any young beauties again, but he will wink at everyone over the age of forty in the audience to remind of the much better movie they saw decades ago. Starring Alexandra Daddario, Sue Rock, Tania Raymond, Bill Mosely and Clint Eastwood‘s blood Scott Eastwood, the new tale will follow Heather (Daddario) who goes to Texas to collect an inheritance, part of which happens to be chainsaw wielding maniac. A bloodbath ensues. “Takers” auteur John Luessenhop is directing so keep those expectations low.

“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” will grind its way into theaters on October 5, 2012.
