While the film has won over audiences who’ve seen “The King’s Speech” at festival screenings so far — and took home the audience award at TIFF — The Weinstein Company have a tough road to travel if they want to get audiences to fork over their cash to see it.
The film is about King George VI and his battle to overcome his stutter. Yeah, doesn’t exactly sound like a thrillride does it, but it has been playing gangbusters to both critics and crowds who have seen it. So why does the poster look like it was cobbled together by a soon-to-be-rejected applicant to RISD? The poster poorly Photoshops the three floating heads of the leads, has them all looking at different directions and looks like it could just as easily be for a romcom than an inspirational drama. The whole effort feels like an afterthought.
With the film set to begin a limited rollout starting on November 26th, we hope the studio has something else up their sleeve. [Hollywood Elsewhere]
