Patricia Clarkson is one of the most underrated actresses in the world. However, she takes center stage in the new film “Out of Blue,” and it sure does look like a doozy of a detective film.
In the trailer for “Out of Blue,” we meet Clarkson’s detective character that is investigating the murder of a young professor that has ties to a prominent local family. However, as she does her detecting, Clarkson comes across a variety of strange folks and a lecture given by the professor about the nature of the universe. So, what looks to be, on paper, a typical whodunnit, turns into an existential examination through the lens of a detective thriller. Sounds awesome.

Clarkson is joined by Jacki Weaver, James Caan, and Toby Jones in the cast, each playing a seemingly interesting character with much more hidden underneath. “Out of Blue” is written and directed by Carol Morley, who is probably best known for her work on “The Falling” and “Dreams of a Life.”
“Out of Blue” is scheduled to be released on March 15.
