Paramount Picks Up DC Comic 'The Mighty'

With Disney swooping in and paying $4 billion for Marvel Entertainment and buying out the remaining distribution deal the comic company had with Paramount, it was only a matter of time before the mountain logo company started getting back in the game of comic movies. After all, there’s money to be had.

Deadline reports that Paramount has picked up the rights to the DC ComicThe Mighty.” And hey, it’s a pretty good premise. Created by Peter Tomasi and Keith Champagne (who had control of the rights which is why this automatically didn’t go over to Warner Bros.), the story follows Gabriel Cole, a mortal, ordinary human and police officer, who was saved as a child by the hero Alpha One. Unfortunately, the caped figure has an evil plan in the works and Gabriel must try and stop him. So in short, it’s the baddie who has all the powers, not our protagonist and that’s a pretty decent little twist.

Want more details? Sorry that’s all we got. No writer, director or cast has been announced as this is just entering development. But believe it or not, this is one comic film that we think is refreshingly different and now the question becomes: who should direct it?
