If you haven't tuned in to "Parks & Recreation" yet you are missing one of the best comedies on television right now (and far superior to the overrated "Community," sorry, it's true). The show is poised to give everyone involved a serious career boost (and in some cases it has, with both Aziz Ansari and Aubrey Plaza moving into bigger film roles), but it's the unlikely Chris Pratt who may rise above the rest of his cast. As we noted in our 25 Best Movie Moments Of 2011 he shows some impressive range as Scott Hatteberg in "Moneyball," and if everything goes according to plan he may stretching those dramatic chops even further.
Twitch is reporting that Pratt is in talks to take the lead role in Kathryn Bigelow's gestating, untitled Seal Team 6 flick (aka "Kill Bin Laden"). Of course, details about the project are under lock and key but as you might guess, it's about the hunt and eventual killing of the terrorist leader, with a section of the film devoted to the firefight that took him out over the summer. Jason Clarke is currently the only confirmed cast member, but a host of names have been tossed around to potentially join including Tom Hardy, Jennifer Ehle, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Rooney Mara and Nina Arianda (Carol from "Midnight In Paris").
This would be a tremendous move by Pratt, one that would be a distinct step away from his Bert Macklin/Mouserat duties, but we can definitely see him stepping into the role. Filming on the Mark Boal-scripted project is set to begin in February with a December 19, 2012 release date slated.
