Inquiring minds want to know about “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” the third installment of the ethnic stoner buddies trilogy, yes?
Well, some updates for you then. John Cho tweeted today, “In Michigan. [Patton Oswalt] in my vicinity, holding a sketch pad, duct tape, and a reel to reel audio recorder.”
While that’s not exactly confirmation, we assume Oswalt didn’t go up to Michigan just for his health. To add fuel to the fire producer/writer Jon Hurwitz, tweeted, “Cannot confirm whether or not @pattonoswalt was cast in Harold & Kumar 3, or if he’s simply on an espionage mission for the Ruskies.” We’ll assume that’s confirmation that he’s taking the piss.
Earlier today, Hurwitz tweeted that ” ‘Harold & Kumar 3’ has officially started shooting,” and then later in the day some set photos arrived (via FirstShowing).
Directing ‘Harold & Kumar 3’ is Todd Strauss-Schulson known for a lot of great shorts, music videos (Ben Lee, Five For Fighting) and some TV and Web shorts that have included the likes of Stephen Colbert, Richard Belzer, Lewis Black, Jeff Ross, Patton Oswalt, Colin Quinn, Jackie Mason, Laura Silverman, and Damon Wayans.
The script was written by Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who were behind both ‘Harold & Kumar’ 1 and 2. The picture was said to be shooting in 3D, and we still find that a little hard to believe (though Oswalt himself seemingly confirmed it as did the director). The film will be aiming for a Christmas release in 2011 and apparently catches up with Harold & Kumar 10 years after ‘HK2’ takes place. Surely Neil Patrick Harris will reprise his role in the 3rd film despite being shot to ribbons (apparently he appears in tact after the credits; we don’t remember that, we may have been on some kind of substance).
