“Wonder Woman” may be one of the most successful films of the summer, a rare blockbuster embraced by both critics and audiences alike, but James Cameron isn’t having it. The director recently shared his criticisms of the movie, which in summary, were along the lines that: a) Sarah Connor is better and b) a woman can’t be powerful and beautiful. Well, it hasn’t taken long for Patty Jenkins to fire back.
The director hit Twitter, and rejected the notion that female characters must always be outwardly troubled in order to be strong, and argued that there won’t be true progress until multidimensional characters for women are accepted. Here’s what she had to say:

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Jenkins offers a strong rebuttal to Cameron’s comments and makes a nice point about a playing field that gives men more opportunities to step into heroic roles from different angles.
