Paul Feig Is Working On A Gay Rom-Com With Channing Tatum To Star

Update: Reps for Channing Tatum say that “this is completely not true.” Bummer.

Perhaps there was something in the water on the set of “Magic Mike.” Earlier today we learned that Lee Daniels wants his ‘The Butler‘ star Alex Pettyfer to lead a “Mr. & Mrs. Smith“-style action movie for him, with the twist being the central duo are an interracial gay couple. And now Pettyfer’s stripper movie co-star also wants to get in on the same-sex fun.

Chatting with CinemaBlend in advance of the home video release of “The Heat” next week, director Paul Feig shared that he’s working on a gay rom-com with Channing Tatum attached to star. Yes, really. So dudes and ladies, who will Tatum lock lips with? Apparently John Milhiser, and before who ask who that guy is, he’s the latest addition to the cast of “Saturday Night Live.” As for the premise, it will follow a regular dude (presumably Milhiser) who gets involved with a hunky, popular, super sexy dude and can’t handle it. And that’s all the info there is for now, but really, what more do you need?

There’s no title or even word on when it might roll, and considering Feig generally has a half dozen things brewing at any one time—half of them with Melissa McCarthy—we’ll see how this goes. And while Tatum in a gay rom-com is perhaps novel, the premise is a bit rote (if it were about a straight couple, we’d already be bored), so here’s hoping that the final material has a bit more to it.
