While fans of “Downton Abbey” were left a bit bummed out after Dan Stevens‘ exit from the show last season, leaving a rather significant absence among the Crawley family, it looks like everyone’s favorite PBS drama has rebounded with a bit of casting that will certainly light up message boards and Twitter all over again.
TVLine reports that Paul Giamatti is joining the esteemed ranks of the show, though his appearance will be fairly brief and duh, SPOILERS AHEAD in case you don’t want to know any more. Apparently, Giamatti won’t be seen until the final episode of season four, playing Harold Levinson, the brother of Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) and uncle to Mary (Michelle Dockery) and Edith (Laura Carmichael). He’s described as a “maverick, playboy” sibling, and his scenes with Shirley MacLaine will “upset the Grantham’s apple cart” according to executive producer Gareth Neame.
So perhaps even more of Giamatti come season five? Or will this be a one-time, boat-rocking cameo? Discuss amongst yourselves below…..
