Pedro Pascal Says ‘The Mandalorian’ Will Blur The Lines Between Good And Evil

It seems like the ‘Star Wars’ franchise may be going chaotic neutral with ‘The Mandalorian,’ as star Pedro Pascal says the show will lean more into the Western elements of the franchise and explore the “center” between good and evil.

Uh oh, you may very well say, is the show going to explore good people on both sides? For over 40 years, the franchise far, far away has drawn clear and distinct lines separating good and evil even using a color system to distinguish from the lawful good Jedi and the lawful evil Sith. So far the movies have made it pretty clear that “balance” is just being good, and anything less than that is pure, unspeakable evil.

This all could change once “The Mandalorian” drops on Disney+. In an interview with AP, Pedro Pascal, who plays the titular Mandalorian discussed how the series will be ambiguous about morality. “They separate good and evil so perfectly in the world of Star Wars,” Pascal said, “and in this one it’s like we’re way more at the center. We’re past those borders and past those very, very linear, very specific lines of definitions.”

It seems like the first live-action “Star Wars” show will follow the prestige drama way of the past few years and give us an antihero for a protagonist, like “The Sopranos” and “Breaking Bad” did before it. After all, it is hard to imagine a show about a bounty hunter being clear on its main character’s morality. Nevertheless, it may be an exciting time for those who long to see the shady underworld of the galaxy be explored in a “Star Wars” live-action project, even if all this was already explored in the “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” animated series years ago.
