With “Downton Abbey” now finished, you might be looking for another tea, crumpets, and intrigue filled drama set against a British backdrop to fill the void. Well, Netflix is hoping you’ll tune into “The Crown” next month, and certainly it looks sumptuous.
As per usual, the streaming service has attracted some great talent with the series starring Claire Foy, Matt Smith, John Lithgow, Victoria Hamilton, Jared Harris, Vanessa Kirby, and Dame Eileen Atkins, and featuring the writing talents of “The Queen” scribe Peter Morgan, with director Stephen Daldry behind the camera. And they come together to tell the story of young Queen Elizabeth II and the challenges she faces on the throne. Here’s the official synopsis:
