Peter Sarsgaard & Amy Seimetz Join 'The Killing' Season 3

nullThe big question: can AMC reclaim the fans and critics it lost after season two of "The Killing"? That's going to be the goal as the network canceled and then re-upped show, but they will still have to convince those who got frustrated as the intial mystery dragged over two seasons. But they are taking some important steps. Firstly, the network promises that this time around, everything will be resolved in twelve episodes, and secondly, they are lining up some solid talent to join the returning Joel Kinnaman and Mireille Enos.

Peter Sarsgaard and quickly rising Amy Seimetz (who appeared in two Sundance films in January, "Upstream Color" and "Pit Stop") have both boarded the show. Sarsgaard will bring his brand off slightly off kilter characters to the role of Tom Seward, a career criminal on death row. Meanwhile, Seimetz will play Danielle Lutz, in what sounds like a key role as the mother of a 14 year-old girl who goes missing. These are pretty strong additions to the cast, so hopefully the newly rejiggered show will make plenty use of their talent.

Production begins later this month, and while no premiere date seems officially set, we'd wager we'll be unraveling the mystery later this year. [Deadline/TVLine]
