Philip Baker Hall will be joining Jim Carrey, Carla Gugino and Ophelia Lovibond in the upcoming adaptation of picturebook classic “Mr. Popper’s Penguins.”
Based on Richard and Florence Atwater’s book, the film follows Carrey as a high-powered businessman who inherits six penguins, and as you might expect, they complicate his life but not before he learns about family and friendship. Aww. Hall will play an investor who backs Mr. Popper’s various schemes, with Lovibond playing the titular character’s personal assistant. Still no word yet on what Gugino’s role in the film is, but we expect she’ll be The Girl. Andrew Stewart-Jones also joins the cast as Mr. Popper’s doorman who threatens to tell the building’s management about his new friends.
We shouldn’t really need to run down Hall’s impressive and lengthy resumé but he pretty much classes up the joint in whatever project he lends his talents to. [The Wrap]
