Exclusive: With filming set to begin imminently on Yaron Zilberman‘s indie-drama “A Late Quartet,” casting is beginning to get firmed up.
Updated: Reps for Ethan Hawke tell us the actor had to bow out of the film due to scheduling conflicts.
Philip Seymour Hoffman has boarded the film, a rep for the actor confirmed to The Playlist, joining the previously announced Ethan Hawke, with Christopher Walken, Catherine Keener and Imogen Poots rumored in the other major roles (reps for all the actors have not yet returned calls or emails). Co-written by Zilberman and Seth Grossman, the film chronicles the elder leader of a famed string quartet who is suffering from Parkinson’s Disease, throwing the future of the renowned group into question. As the quartet struggles to stay together on the eve of their 25th season, the group’s once-tempered egos
violently collide.
Zilberman will be making his feature debut after his 2004 documentary, Watermarks,” about an Austrian woman’s swim team in the ’30s. Production on “A Late Quartet” is set to begin shortly in New York City.
