Some more shots of Rob Marshall’s “Nine” have popped online. This one that shows Daniel Day-Lewis driving around his onscreen mom Sophia Loren, is pretty chic and classy (check out those wheels).
An adaptation of the musical , “Nine,” itself an adaptation inspired by Fellini’s “8 1/2.” The star-studded cast features Day-Lewis as a film director haunted by the mostly gorgeous women in his life (Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, and Loren), ranging from mistress to deceased mother.
Oscar-bait note (if the above stars weren’t enough for you): this is the last script penned by the late and beloved Anthony Minghella (who co-scripted with Michael Tolkin). Rob Marshall obviously cleaned up at the Oscars with “Chicago,” in 2002; a movie that still holds up and probably features one of the few good performances by Rene Zellweger. So, despite the fact that Fergie has a role in this thing too, it’s prime 2009 Oscar bait and is due in theaters December 11.
