After years of directing heavy dramas like “Open Hearts,” “After The Wedding,” “Brothers” and most recently, the Oscar winning “In A Better World,” helmer Susanne Bier is looking to take a break from heavy drama for a moment and do something lighter instead. Earlier this week it was announced she was set to direct “All You Need Is Love,” a romantic comedy, and she’s now found her lead actor.
24 Frames reports that former James Bond and Remington Steel man Pierce Brosnan will star in the film. The actor’s post-Bond career has been interesting. He’s shifted between genres and films big and small tackling a straight up rom-com in “Laws Of Attraction,” mixing it up with indie fare like “The Matador” and “The Greatest,” taking a swing at musicals with “Mamma Mia!,” working with top-tier directors like Roman Polanski on “The Ghost Writer” while occasionally making weird decisions like playing Robert Pattinson‘s asshole Dad in the manipulative “Remember Me.” Can’t say the guy doesn’t like mixing it up.
Details on the plot are still scarce but it will be romance and comedy centering around a Danish family, with Brosnan describing it as a “delightful love story….which has punch and deals with loss and a great love.” The film is being prepped to shoot on the Amalfi coast in May and 24 Frames suggests that since Brosnan’s foreign language skills are non-existent, the film will likely be bilingual affair.
