Poster Artist Drew Struzan Has Been Asked By Disney To Return To Design New 'Star Wars' Posters

nullEven if you don't know the name Drew Struzan, you know his work. The famed poster artist has put his talents to franchises like "Indiana Jones," "Back To The Future," "Jurassic Park," "Harry Potter" and iconic films like "Blade Runner," "E.T." and much more. But perhaps his most enduring and recognizable work comes from "Star Wars," and his designs for three of the six films to date. And it looks like Disney wants to ensure the next bach of films continue that visual tradition.

Chatting with Fanhattan, Struzan revealed that his phone has already been ringing from the mouse house, who want him to return. "I got a couple calls already this week on 'Star Wars' from Disney. Oh my god, I’m trying to be retired! You know, I spent 35 years painting 'Star Wars.'" he laughed. But jokes aside, Struzan isn't immediately compelled to take up the paint and brush again, as he really is trying to wind down.

"I painted 'Star Wars' before most of you were born! But I guess there is always a chance. There’s no intention," he continued. "But I would love to have a day off every now and again, and I have to work a weekend and all through the night. If the opportunity arises, it will be a real temptation. But it’s going to have to be a real temptation to get me away from my wife and my little grandkids and my family. Away from the green trees and the blue skies for a change instead of just locked in the studio. But, you know, never say never. All things are possible."

Undoubtedly, fans will indeed want Struzan to continue being the pen behind the series, and we'd wager it might be hard for him to see another artist take on the series that owes much of its image to him. But if he doesn't come back, do you have any suggestions on who should take over? Still lots to be answered about the upcoming sequels, the first of which is due in 2015.
