“Hunger,” directed by visual artist Steve McQueen, is set for a limited release in the U.S. on the 5th of December, and is definitely a film not to be missed. Winner of the Camera d’Or at Cannes this year, it seems as though it has polarised audiences during its festival run, but pretty much has critics eating out of its audacious hand.
Gloriously lensed by Sean Bobbitt and featuring a commanding portrayal by Michael Fassbender, it may suffer the negative effects of over-hype when it rolls out stateside because as bold as it is, it’s difficult to watch and not much happens during its running time. Nevertheless, I found myself sucked into McQueen’s shocking, atmospheric triumph and the poster, adorned with spot on quotes from critics, is great. [IMPAwards] – From our friends at Fataculture.
Our “Hunger” review lies here. It’s brutal to watch at times, but it’s haunting and surprisingly lyrical.
