President Trump’s Name Will Be Bleeped In ‘Broad City’ Season 4

Broad City” has never been a show that was shy to tell viewers exactly how they feel on subjects, no matter how politically divisive. In fact, during last season, there was a brief appearance by Hillary Clinton, in which Ilana pledged her support for the presidential nominee. Well, we all know how that turned out, and as you might imagine, the ladies at “Broad City” aren’t too pleased with the outcome. So much so that they plan on going the extra steps to not even allow President Trump’s name to be heard.

“There’s no airtime for this orange [person],” series co-creator and star Ilana Glazer says. “We bleep his name the whole season.”

During an interview with USA Today, Glazer didn’t mince words when it came to the new President. With the fourth season of the hit Comedy Central show set to begin airing in late August, Glazer and the rest of the writers of the show were deep into pre-production when the election was decided. That meant that their original plans were going to have to change, since they assumed (like many) that Clinton would emerge victorious.

“We wrote [Season 4] being like, ‘Here we go! Hillary for president!’ ” Glazer says. But after the election, “we rewrote a lot.”

So what does an episode of “Broad City” look like in the new era of the Trump Administration? “Ilana’s ‘powers’ are decreasing during the current administration because it’s just so hard to [orgasm] when you know so many people are in such danger. So Ilana works through her Trump-related [hang-up] and it’s wild,” Glazer said.

It’s safe to say that Glazer and company are not going to just conduct business as usual. Viewers are bound to see more episodes centered around the current political climate. However, if you’re a fan of the series, it’s also safe to say that you’re pretty much okay with that.
