Producers Say 'Sinister Six' & 'Venom' To Come Before 'The Amazing Spider-Man 4' Plus Watch Sinister Six Featurette

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Thanks to the wild success the Marvel cinematic universe has had, rival studios have decided the only sure-fire path to success lies in building an elaborate web of spin-offs and team-up films and nowhere does this plan seem more strained than in Sony‘s attempt to wring every bit of cash they can from “The Amazing Spider-Man” series. The second entry in the web-slinger’s rebooted adventures has yet to arrive in theaters (but you can read our review) but that hasn’t stopped the studio from locking down their next few years on the big screen.

Although Sony has yet to make good on co-chairman Amy Pascal‘s threat to give the world a new “Spider-Man” movie every year, it’s not for lack of trying. In an interview with Den Of Geek, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach gave a few more detail’s on the studio release plan for the franchise. Despite the previously announced 2018 release date for “The Amazing Spider-Man 4,” Tolmach told the site that priorities were shifting at the studio, saying, “Before we know what we do with Spider-Man 4, we’re going to do ‘Sinister Six,’ ‘Venom‘ and ‘[Amazing] Spider-Man 3.’ There is going to be a lot of crossover in those movies. So we’re just not at ‘Spider-Man 4,’ because we still have a whole other Spider-Man movie and two other movies. So we don’t know yet what [Spider-Man 4] is going to be.”

Don’t worry about a long gap between movies though as the producers confirmed that the 2018 date is still reserved “for a Spider-Man movie, but not necessarily an Amazing Spider-Man movie.” With Drew Goddard officially signing as the director for “Sinister Six” earlier this week, it’s highly likely the villain-centric team-up film will be the first to arrive, which is just as well since the first seeds for the spin-off film have already been planted in “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” as the new video from MTV makes clear with interviews with Andrew Garfield, Jamie Foxx and Marc Webb.
