Producers Want Tom Hardy To Play Elton John In Biopic 'Rocketman'

nullBronson, Bane, Forrest Bondurant, Eames…Elton John? Is it time for Tom Hardy to sing and sashay across a stage wearing wild and garish costumes? If movie producers get their wish, it might be a possibility.

The Elton John biopic “Rocketman,” which has been brewing since at least 2011, continues the hunt for a leading man. Way back in 2012, Justin Timberlake was eyed as a possibility, but now according to HitFix, it’s Hardy that’s being considered. Sort of. The site stresses that there is no formal offer, and no one really knows if Hardy would consider it, but “the project is out to” him which means that if it piques his curiosity, perhaps some conversations can begin. It’s all very tentative and wishlist-y at the moment, though apparently, Ben Foster is wanted to play the younger Elton. Hardy and Foster in “Rocketman”? That would be inspired, if anything.

Anyway, this movie is being produced by John himself, and penned by Lee Hall. It features choreographed sequences, powered by the musician’s famous songs, in a story that will track through his childhood (he was a prodigy), longstanding artistic relationship with lyricist Bernie Taupin and on to his rise to fame and riches and controversy too.

All this to say: maybe. But do you see Hardy as Elton John? Do you want to? Chime in below.
