After all the empty promises over the years, we can hardly believe it either: a sequel to Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's "Sin City" is set to begin production this spring with many of the original cast expected to return. To whet appetites, we now have a promo poster for the film, titled "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," which plays it generic but bares enough of the neo-noir hallmarks of its predecessor to entice.
So where will the sequel take us? Miller previously told us that Jessica Alba's Nancy Callahan character will be the link between the two movies, with the plot to be based on stories such as the eponymous "A Dame To Kill For," "Just Another Saturday Night" and a new one titled "The Long, Bad Night" — the latter of which Miller wrote to tie things together and presumably centers on Callahan. If the graphic novels are anything to go by, that would signal a return for characters played in the original by Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson, Devon Aoki, Michael Clarke Duncan, Clive Owen and, of course, Alba.
Before all this, Rodriguez is shooting another sequel, "Machete Kills," with Alba and Michelle Rodriguez reuniting with the helmer and his star Danny Trejo, and joining newcomers Demián Bichir, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara and Mel Gibson. A promo poster has arrived for that film as well, giving fans something to hang on to before cameras roll. Rodirguez has noted that the production of the two sequels may overlap though, and as "Machete Kills" begins production imminently, that should mean things will come together fairly soon for 'A Dame To Kill For' as well.
