Quentin Tarantino Writing 'Django Unchained'/'Zorro' Crossover Comic

nullClearly, Quentin Tarantino isn’t done with the world of "Django Unchained." The talkative director turned heads last month when he revealed at the Cannes Film Festival he was considering releasing his western with new footage in a 4-hour miniseries cut for TV. But TV isn’t the only medium where Tarantino wants to bring Django.

THR reports that the filmmaker is teaming up with DC Entertainment and Dynamite Entertainment for "Django/Zorro"—yes, a crossover. Tarantino is coming up with the plot, while Matt Wagner is actually writing the thing, and while story details aren’t yet known, it will bring together Django Freeman and the masked Zorro, presumably as they team up and help those under the foot of various authorities. “I’m very very excited about both this story and the opportunity to work with Matt,” Tarantino said. “It was reading his Zorro stories that convinced me what a good idea it was to join these two icons together.  And the story idea we came up with is thrilling, and I think will be an exciting new chapter for both characters.”

Again, details are scarce, and it’s not clear how many books this series will run. The idea itself may seem a bit pulpy, but that’s right in Tarantino’s milieu for anyone even vaguely associated with his work—we’re just mostly surprised he’s allowing another property to share space with his creation. At any rate, it’s not the first time "Django Unchained" has gone the pen and ink route, with Vertigo Entertainment publishing the script in graphic novel form a couple years back. So, if you wanted more Django (with Zorro), you got it.
