'Red State' Star Kyle Gallner Joins 'Beautiful Creatures' With Viola Davis & Alden Ehrenreich

nullSo, will "Beautiful Creatures" be the next "The Hunger Games"-sized Young Adult hit? That's what Warner Bros. is hoping for as they are putting the final casting pieces in place for the big screen adaptation of Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl's novel.

Kyle Gallner, probably best known for his role in Kevin Smith's "Red State," has joined the film that will see him play along a pretty solid cast including Alice Englert, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emma Thompson, Emmy Rossum, Thomas Mann and last minute replacement lead, Alden Ehrenreich. Written and directed by Richard LaGravanese ("P.S. I Love You"), the picture will tell the tale of leads Ethan Wate (Ehrenreich) and Lena Duchannes (Englert), two teens in the deep south who are drawn together by a strange connection and supernatural secrets. Gallner is taking the role of Larkin, the younger brother to Rossum's character who she casts a spell on.

Filming is underway on the project with a February 1, 2013 release date penciled in. And if all goes well, WB are hoping this can be spun into a franchise, with four more books from the Caster Chronicles to draw on. [Variety]
