Redbox's 10 Most Rented Films Of 2013 Reveal People Really Like Melissa McCarthy

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if the buzz around an actor or actress exists simply among entertainment writers or has currency in the real world. And so, when Melissa McCarthy broke out in 2011 with “Bridesmaids,” earning an Oscar nomination (among other accolades) it remained to be seen if that success would be a springboard to future hits. And indeed it was.

2013 saw McCarthy deliver two box office comedy hits with “Identity Thief” and “The Heat,” and not only were they big at the theater, they were big at home too. Redbox has revealed their most rented titles of 2013 and those movies take the top two slots. As for the rest of the ten? No big shockers really, though more people than we ever thought possible were interested in the Kevin James thing “Here Comes The Boom.”

Other stats of note: “The Imposter” was the most rented documentary. “World War Z” was the most rented Blu-ray, while “The Avengers” was the most streamed. And the title to hit one million rentals fastest? “Olympus Has Fallen.” Lastly, “Now You See Me” was in the top ten for 63 days, longer than any other movie.
