Relativity Nabs U.S. Rights To 'District 13' Remake 'Brick Mansions' With Paul Walker

nullThere was a time when "A Luc Besson Film" meant something. Now it's just shorthand for low-to-mid budget actioners, cranked out, packaged and set upon a marketplace that somehow eats up the high calorie filler. Seriously people, "Taken 2" was awful, yet it was a smash hit. Anyway, it looks like that remake of "District 13" that was developing two years ago is not only still happening, it's moving forward. Parkour is back, y'all!

First sought way back in October 2011, Paul Walker is officially on board "Brick Mansions" (as the remake is called) with David Belle from the original films reprising his role, probably because he's one of the people who still think parkour is a cool thing. The plot, such as it is, will find Walker playing detective, tracking down a drug dealer who has stolen a weapon of mass destruction (sigh), aided by Lino (Belle), who uses his wall flipping skillz to help him navigate the ghetto known as Brick Mansions. We nearly fell asleep typing that….

Anyway, in case it matters, Besson (who co-wrote the movie with "Taken" scribe Robert Mark Kamen) will give the reins to protegé Camille Delamarre who will direct, with Relativity co-financing and distributing the movie. No word yet on when it will lens, but likely after Walker is done rebooting "Hitman" with "Agent 47" this summer. But for our money, "The Office" parkour movie is the only movie we'd want to see.
