Quick! Tell me who stars in "The November Man," what the plot is and when it opens! Nope, you can’t use IMDb. C’mon, try a bit harder than that, because Relativity really thinks you want to see this movie, to the point where they’ve already started work on a sequel.
Yep, after the film’s star Pierce Brosnan apparently spilled the beans on "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" by saying, “ ‘The November Man’ is an iconic, tough character and I am excited to partner with Relativity to continue to bring him to life,” the studio confirmed (sorta cagily and not with the most forceful conviction) that they are eager (sort of) to bring the titular character to the big screen once again.
“ ‘The November Man’ is a gritty series that re-invents the spy genre with its master Pierce Brosnan by combining the best elements of James Bond and Jason Bourne while echoing the cool, sleek action movies of the 70s," President of Production Robbie Brenner said. "We are excited to launch ‘The November Man’ later this month and to continue to explore Peter Devereaux’s dangerous world with Pierce over the years to come.”
Yeah, we’ll see. These days, of course, studios want to have their ducks in a row should a movie prove popular enough for a sequel or spinoff (it’s why actors are often optioned for more than one movie when it’s comes to blockbusters and tentpoles). But even all the studio spin can’t hide a turkey should a property flop. Remember "The Mortal Instruments" and how much everyone insisted a sequel was coming even though the movie barely registered with audiences? That’s what I’m talking about. (And shocker, the followup is still nowhere to be found).
But hey, maybe I’ve underestimated this generic sounding movie about a former CIA agent pulled back in for one last job, and perhaps next weekend lines will be out the door for this one. Prove me wrong Hollywood. [Collider]
