With movie release dates being changed left and right, you’d be forgiven for thinking the changes are just bad news. But when it comes to Paramount, they’re finally giving release dates to films we haven’t heard a lot of recently. One of them is Aaron Sorkin‘s “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” and the other is a new “Transformers” film.
Deadline reports that Paramount has set the release date of a new live-action film in the “Transformers” series for June 24, 2022. It is still uncertain which “Transformers” film this will be, for Paramount is in development on two different projects for the franchise: one is reportedly a follow up to the soft reboot universe that came out of 2018’s “Bumblebee,” written by “Army of the Dead” scribe Joby Harold.
The other project is written by James Vanderbilt (“Murder Mystery“) and is rumored to be based on the “Beast Wars” cartoon spin-off that found the robots transform into animals instead of vehicles. Sadly, there is no word on whether the films will include Unicron, the Earth-sized robot from the end of “Transformers: The Last Knight.”

Deadline also reports that the sophomore directorial effort from Oscar-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, “The Trial of the Chicago 7,” is now opening on limited release September 25, 2020, and expanding on October 9 before finally going wide on October 16. The film stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Frank Langella and follows the titular 1969 trial of seven people who were charged with conspiracy by the federal government stemming from the counterculture protests at the Democratic National Convention from 1968.
