Rebecca Hall has enjoyed a diverse career, sinking her teeth into smaller passion projects and behemoth blockbusters alike. Demonstrating her mainstream appeal through her highly critically and commercially successful collaboration with Christopher Nolan in the 2006 film “The Prestige,” Hall has since become a stalwart of the Sundance Film Festival, having equally exhibited an inclination towards its more independently spirited projects. In the infancy of this decade alone, Hall has appeared in “The Night House” and has helmed her first directorial outing in “Passing,” both of which had their premieres at Sundance to high acclaim.

“Resurrection,” which premiered at Sundance earlier this year to a similarly enthusiastic reception, marks her first on-screen collaboration with Tim Roth, known fondly for his thrilling appearances throughout the Quentin Tarantino canon, as well as his recent leading role in the Sky Atlantic series “Tin Star.”
The film, along with its two central performances, has received an initially rapturous critical reaction, having been described by our own Playlist review as a “harrowing and unsettling movie better experienced than explained.” Expect, therefore, a ratcheting up of the pervading paranoia and terror which characterized director Andrew Semans’ 2012 debut feature “Nancy Please.” The Streaming service Shudder, the modern home of high octane horror and thriller, along with IFC Films, has acquired the North American rights to the movie, signposting the disquieting tone we can expect to bask in.
Alongside Hall and Roth, “Resurrection” will star Grace Kaufman, Michael Esper, and Angela Wong Carbone. The Sundance film is scheduled for release on August 5 in theaters and on VOD. Watch the new teaser trailer below.
