To watch or not watch tonight’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” trailer, that is the question. Die hard fans are finally getting the long-waited new trailer for the film, but with two months to go until it lands in cinemas, some are wondering if they can keep their eyes closed until then. Well, director Rian Johnson is feeling you on that.
Late this summer, the director fully endorsed “avoiding everything you can from now ’till December!” And while he’s pretty jazzed about tonight’s trailer, he’s also split on whether or not you should actually watch it. In fact, if you want to go in clean, you can avoid it altogether. And it’s a decision that Johnson (mostly) gets behind.
I a legitimately torn. If you want to come in clean, absolutely avoid it.
But it’s gooooood….. https://t.co/Y29K5yz8i4

So, what will you be doing tonight? “Do. Or do not. There is no try,” Yoda once said. It’s either all in, of you can just watch the reactions and sceenshots roll by on social media. For myself, I’m going to pass on the trailer, at least online, but if I happen to see it in cinemas, I won’t be too upset.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opens on December 15th, and oh yeah, tickets are on sale tonight too.
Update: Johnson has clarified his thoughts.
That wording is misleading – I said IF you want to come in totally 100% clean, avoid the trailer.

FWIW: I love that there are folks who want to come into a movie clean, I think that’s awesome. Me, I’m a weak man. I watch ALL THE TRAILERS
