While his output slowed quite a bit in recent years, Ivan Reitman came back to the public eye in a big way last year with the long-awaited release of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” which is directed by his son, Jason Reitman. This film serves as a potential beginning of a new franchise while also paying tribute to what has come before.
Reitman’s most recent directorial outings are 2014’s “Draft Day,” 2011’s “No Strings Attached,” and 2006’s “My Super Ex-Girlfriend.” However, his legacy as one of the best comedic filmmakers of all time was cemented during his run in the ‘80s and ‘90s with the aforementioned “Ghostbusters” (and its sequel), “Stripes,” and “Kindergarten Cop,” as well as features such as “Dave,” “Twins,” and “Meatballs.”
