Rob Zombie To Direct 'Lords Of Salem' This Spring

Depending on who you ask Rob Zombie is either overrated or a much-needed voice in the horror genre. His first two features, “The House of 1000 Corpses” and “The Devil’s Rejects” have their fans, while most will agree that his “Halloween” films left much to be desired. However, the director is back with a project that has been brewing for a while now.

THR reports that “The Lords of Salem” will lens this spring. The film has been brewing for a while now but began to move forward after Zombie wisely dropped out of a proposed remake of “The Blob.” The story is set in contemporary Salem, where the modern day townspeople are menaced by a coven of 300-year-old witches. Much blood letting presumably ensues.

Zombie will direct from his own script and last fall, he mentioned that his band will likely compose the film’s music. “We’ll probably do the score this time out — not rock music, but a score. I know I want music to play a large role,” Zombie said.

No word yet on a release date, but we’re guessing it won’t hit until sometime next year.
