'Game Of Thrones' Actor Robert Aramayo Replacing Will Poulter In Amazon's 'Lord Of The Rings' Series

Ned Stark is coming to Middle-earth! Well, kind of. Actually, not really at all, but that would be cool, right? What we mean is that actor Robert Aramayo has been cast in the lead role in Amazon’s upcoming “The Lord of the Rings” TV series and this is far from his first foray into the world of small-screen fantasy.

According to Deadline, Aramayo has joined the cast of “The Lord of the Rings,” replacing the departed Will Poulter in one of the lead roles in the series. As you probably recall, Poulter left the series recently due to “scheduling conflicts” (who knows what that actually means) and Amazon had been on the hunt to find a leading man to take over the undisclosed role. The actor joins Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, and Morfydd Clark in the cast, though Amazon has yet to fully confirm any of it.

As alluded to above, perhaps Aramayo’s best-known role previously is as a young version of Ned Stark from the HBO smash hit series “Game of Thrones.” The actor is seen as a big up-and-coming star as he has a number of high-profile gigs that will be releasing soon. Not only is he going to be one of the stars of ‘Rings,’ but he also has a Netflix series “Behind the Eyes” in the works, as well as films such as “The King’s Man,” “Antebellum,” and “The Empty Man.” Previously, he was seen in the acclaimed film “Nocturnal Animals.”

Not much is known about “The Lord of the Rings” series. What people think they know is that the series will be a prequel to the Tolkien novels, taking place in what is known as the Second Age. Also, we know that ‘Rings’ is set to cost Amazon something around $1 billion after everything is all said and done. And the streaming service has already renewed it for a second season, which is going to begin production shortly after the first wraps up (filming has yet to begin on the first episodes).

While a release date is still not announced, production is expected to ramp up this year, with a 2021 premiere likely.
