Due to his outstanding work in “Hide And Seek,” “Godsend,” “Righteous Kill” and “The Adventures Of Rocky & Bullwinkle,” Robert De Niro will be feted at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards with the Cecil B. DeMille Award.
Ok, we’re sort of being jerks, but we never much cared for this honorary awards handed out to older actors and directors as some sort of consolation or “you’ve had a good run” prize. Martin Scorsese got the statue last year and his good buddy De Niro gets it this time around. Of course, we shouldn’t have to tell you why he’s getting the spotlight this year, and if we do, you need to log off and get on Netflix fast.
The award will be issued during the ceremonies on Sunday, January 16, 2011 that will be presided over by Ricky Gervais, who is sure to lob a few good ones at the actor. Check out De Niro’s guest spot on Gervais’ “Extras” — pretty funny stuff.
